Rev up for a drive of a lifetime! The 123 mile (198 km) Pacific Highway plays hide and seek with the world’s biggest ocean.

On the Californian coast, Pacific Highway 1 is one of the most dramatic road journeys in the US. From historic Monterey, navigate your way through Carmel (as pretty as it claims), Big Sur and down to Morro Bay. If it’s the season, don’t be surprised to find colonies of giant manatees, dozing gently on beaches, few feet away from the road. Take in Bixby Bridge, a single span concrete arch or veer off to see the numerous parks en route, including the Point Lobos State Reserve and Garrapata State Park. Arrive in Morro, stay or whiz along to the sights and sounds of Hollywood...the road takes you straight to LA.

The route is dotted with home-stays, hotels and quaint towns. We recommend you stop as many times as possible for the true blue American road trip experience.
